My trip to Australia last summer started with a 6 hour flight from New Zealand right into Sydney. The first day we arrived we did a tour around the city and had a beautiful photo opportunity of the famous Opera House at the Sydney Harbor. We ate in Chinatown and shopped at a hay market. I attempted and failed at bartering. The next day we visited a animal wildlife park and were able to pet snakes, koalas, and birds of Australia. We ate at a Bavarian Restaurant on North Harbor and visited two famous Australian Beaches: Bondi and Manly. The Sydney Tower and an opal mining store was on the agenda the following day. Beautiful views from the Harbor Bridge in the Rocks neighborhood and dinner at the Darling Harbor that night. Whale watching that day, although made me and fellow students sick, we received beautiful views of the Opera House. Vivid Sydney, a light festival that was happening during our trip, was where we spent our evening. Pictures and designs displayed on the Opera House and surrounding buildings finished off the night and the trip as a whole.

Iceland hasn't been on my bucket list for very long, but it is a place I would love to visit soon. The Northern Lights can be seen from Iceland, which is definitely something I would like to see. Reykjavik is a large city in Iceland, smaller than New York City, but still a big city. Hiking and camping is a very popular activity to do in Iceland because of the fact the country is blessed with beautiful nature. Iceland is also rich with geysers, volcanos, and glaciers, which is a priority on my bucket list.
Greece has been on my travel bucket list every since Greek mythology in fifth grade. The country and history fascinated me. A couple of the basic musts on my list: watching the sunset in Santorini and singing the "Mamma Mia" soundtrack on Skopelos Island. Visiting the Parthenon and Colosseum is, of course, necessary to fulfill my childhood dreams of being a Greek goddess. Crossing my fingers to run into Athena. When (if) I get the opportunity to travel to Greece one day, I want to explore the hidden treasures of Greece to immerse myself in the culture as much as possible. As I researched for this post, the Athens Riviera peaked my interest. The rock formations in Meteora attracted me as well. Milos, of the Cycladic Islands, known for being underrated is the last thing on this travel bucket list that draws me to Greece. I hope I'll get to sing Dancing Queen one day on a beautiful island in Greece. Graduation present, Mom?
We landed in Auckland after an overnight plane trip in the morning. Feeling disoriented, our tour started immediately. Rotorua, a geothermal town, was where we headed first. The beautiful scenery caught my eye as we rode our charter bus through the hills of New Zealand. The air was noticeably chiller than the humid air of Georgia. We stopped to ride a gondola and try New Zealand's signature meat pies. Next on our itinerary was a relaxing walk through the Redwoods Forest, which I learned are not only in California. We ended the night with a cultural exchange with New Zealand teens, which conversations mostly consisted of Trump and America's drug laws. The next morning was an early morning consisting of a duck tour around Rotorua. The sheep shearing show definitely had 2nd strongest smell, after the smell of sulfur that follows you around Rotorua. My favorite part of New Zealand was the Maori village we visited that night and the feast they prepared for us. Mt. Eden was the last beautiful stop before heading to the airport for a flight to Sydney.
Traveling around the peaceful country of Costa Rica was truly exhilarating. Nature walks every morning started the day off right. The words "pura vida" truly fit the serene people of Costa Rica. From zip lining to making our own chocolate, everyday was a new, once in a lifetime, adventure.
My most recent adventure was to the beautiful country of New Zealand, the lively country of Australia, and the tropical country of Fiji. We explored San Francisco, which I hope to revisit very soon, on the way to Auckland. Two weeks immersed in different cultures, opened my eyes to the vast world I have not yet seen. |
